BANGALORE: Airtel has launched a new tariff plan for the hearing impaired with SMS only cards.

Bharti Mobile's Chief Executive Officer for south central region, Mr Jagdish Kini, told a news conference that the new plan allows the impaired to communicate through SMS at a monthly fee of Rs 99 and a one-time activation fee of Rs 400. But the service is not voice-enabled.

Mr Kini said the special scheme will be available only at the Airtel's Nandidurg's office where the customer will have to get the proof of eligibility to avail the services.

The international SMS will be charged Rs 3 per outgoing service and access to value added services through SMS at Rs 2 per outgoing message.
