Ms. Maya Shakya

Maya Shakya is a 15 year old student of class VIII at Amar Jyoti School, Gwalior who won gold in crochet competition. She cannot use her lower limbs after she contracted polio. This did not deter her from taking active interest in extracurricular activities in addition to her studies. Besides securing first position in her class, she sings beautifully and swims like a fish. She also developed a keen interest in crochet work.

Her home today boasts of many crochet work articles made by her. Therefore it was an easy choice for her at the Abilympics. The medal she won is ample proof of her amazing talents.
