SCHOOL..: 1144/1, JOY HIGHER SECONDARY SCHOOL , WRIGHT TOWN, JABALPUR, MADHYA PRADESH

ABSTRACT: Braille  system  consists  of an array of raised  dots embossed in paper by hand  or machine and is read by blinds by touching these elevated dots in normal reading direction. However, for braille users  process of writing is reverse to reading and he has to remember and has to have a perfect memory of more than 300 symbols. This is highly cumbersome and causes inconvenience to the blind man. To overcome this problem the inventor has made this new braille  system. In this system ,a a new scale was developed in which surfaces were reversed, base was made in the form of elevated dots, and stylus was made with a cup like depression at its terminal end. This has not only decreased the learning curve, but also made possible for the blind to read and review the previous text that he has written. This braille writer is of same weight and size as that of conventional writer and also makes feasible reading and writing   in a conventional way.

CSIO, Chandigarh is developing a pocket size handy prototype which would have the features of both the conventional as well as new type of stylus so that this can be used by the blind as per their choice.
