National Conference on Design for Disabled & Elderly

Chandigarh College of Architecture, Chandigarh organized a National conference on “Design for Disabled & Elderly” at Chandigarh on March 22, 2000. The organizers invited CSIO to participate in the event and to exhibit the Low-Vision Aids (Plastic Aspheric Lenses) developed by CSIO.

The objective of the Conference was to discuss the design issues related to living spaces, work-spaces, and assistive devices from the context of handicapped persons and elderly. Various academic institutions, R&D institutes, Govt. organizations, NGOs, among others, took part in the event. Dr. S.V.Ramagopal and Shri G.S.Singh, Scientists from CSIO participated at the Conference and displayed the Plastic Aspheric lenses developed by CSIO. Dr. Ramagopal gave an invited talk on behalf of Shri VML Narasimham: Development of Low-Vision Aids (Plastic Aspheric Lenses)

There was good response from govt. organizations, NGOs, doctors, patients and from other organizations working for the disabled for CSIO’s work.
