Giant Leap towards Rehabilitation Studies

The Rehabilitation Council of India (RCI) has taken a giant step towards furthering rehabilitation studies by actively promoting research in rehabilitation, awarding research fellowships and sponsoring research publications.

RCI will focus on issues like strategies for developing special education, techniques for utilising distance learning for training professionals and personnel, utilization of information technology for supporting economic and educational independence of people with disabilities, ensuring community participation, standardization and evaluation of curriculum, material development. Diagnostic tools, low cost aids, teacher education, and attitudinal barriers towards the disabled are other critical issues of interest.

Eligibility:

Individuals, organizations including Universities and voluntary organizations having adequate research experience.

The RCI has also planned a School of Rehabilitation Sciences for carrying out research into various types of disabilities with their curative and preventive measures. Maj. (retd) H.P.S. Ahluwalia, Chairman, RCI, said that there was a dialogue on between the School of Rehabilitation Sciences and the University of Pittsburgh, USA for the transfer of resources in training in rehabilitation measures.
