Disability issues on the air

Work to further the rights of disabled people in Uganda will receive a boost later this year, through a new initiative using radio to increase awareness of disability issues. Funded by DFID and Comic Relief, the project is being designed and coordinated by NGOs Radio for Development, Leonard Cheshire International, the National Union of Disabled Persons in Uganda and Action on Disability and Development. A six-month series of programmes will be broadcast on Radio Uganda and community-based stations, with an important element of the campaign being the feedback provided through local Radio Listening Clubs.
